Frequently Asked Questions
Are oils are used in the massage treatment?
Oil is used on shoulders, back and neck, but not on the head itself. If you do not wish to have any oil residue on your hair, please be sure to inform your therapist of this.
Is the massage performed seated or lying down?
During the Indian Head Massage, the client is lying down while the practitioner is standing or seated at the end of the massage table closest to the client’s head.
Are deep tissue massage style pressure techniques used on the neck & shoulders?
Yes, to get maximum tension relief and to help remove knots, deep tissue massage is used on the shoulder and neck areas. The pressure intensity is always uniquely tailored to suit each person.
What is recommended after treatment? Can I go out afterwards or do I need to wash my hair?
If you plan to go out after treatment simply let your therapist know. They will then use oil-free hands to perform massage on your head. To maximise the benefits of the massage treatment, we recommend a calm evening of relaxation. Of course, this is not absolutely essential but we highly recommend consuming plenty of water to help flush toxins. Avoid alcohol and other toxins such as sugary snacks and drinks directly after treatment.
How should I dress for the massage?
Your Indian Head Massage therapist will request that you disrobe from the waist up. A fresh town is draped over the upper body, along with a blanket, if necessary, to ensure maximum comfort.
